Prof. Weiwei Deng, Principle Investigator

Dr. Deng is an assitant professor in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at UCF. He obtained his Ph.D. from Yale Univeristy in 2008 and his M.S. and B.S. from Tsinghua University in China.

Alumni:

Dr. Cheng Li, Postdoctral Associate

Dr. Li joined DENG Lab in 2012 after she received her PhD in materials science and engineering at UCF. Her research interest is the printing of polymer solution for high temperature sensors.

Johan Rodriguez, Ph.D. Student

Mr. Rodriguez got his Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering with Energy systems option from UCF in 2012. Worked as an undergraduate research assistant at the Droplet and Energy Lab for nearly two years before graduating.  Spent One year working as a process engineer at Applied Materials.  Currently a Graduate research assistant persuing the thermofluids track in the MMAE department.  Research interest in thin film fabrication using Electrospray for energy applications.

Aaron Madden, B.S. (UCF, 2014)

Mr. Madden is currently a Ph.D. student at Yale University. He was an undergraduate research assistant working on his Honors in the Major (HIM) thesis. His research interest is on developing new dosage form for enhancing bioavailability of drug compounds with poor water solubility.

Masha Chang, Undergraduate Research Assistant

Miss Chang joined Dr. Deng's Lab in 2013 as an undergraduate research assistant.

Brandon Lojewski, M.S. (UCF, 2013)

Current position: Founder and President, Mesdi Systems Inc.

Hongxu Duan, M.S. (UCF, 2013)

Current position: Mechanical Engineer, MSP Corp.

Weiwei (Thomas) Yang, Ph.D. (UCF, 2014)

Dr. Yang is the first Ph.D. trained in Deng Lab. He joined Deng lab at July 2010. His research interests are GPU simulation of multiplexed electrospray, electrospray deposition for advanced materials and electrohydrodynamic perturbation on electrified microjets. He is currently a software engineer on prallel computing at Prudential Financials.

Yan Wei, Ph.D. Candidate

Ms. Wei joined Deng lab at January 2011. Her research interests are evaporation characteritics of nanofluid droplet and electrospray deposition of advanced materials.

Kappy Krueger, M.S. Student

Mr. Krueger joined Dr. Deng’s Lab in 2012 as an undergraduate research assistant. From 2005-2009, he served as a Motor Transport Diesel mechanic in the United States Marine Corps. After being honorably discharged in 2009, he moved to Orlando Florida to pursue a Mechanic Engineering Degree/ Mechanical system options from the University of Central Florida. Current research interests are in flow focusing for further improvement in mono dispersed droplets.

Dr. Danvers Johnston

Dr. Johnston now is an assistant professor at the Florida Gulf Coast Univeristy. He was a Research Scientist in the DENG Lab where he is developing fabrication and characterization methods to further the science and application of electronic nanomaterials processed by electrospray deposition.  From 2009 to 2012, he was a postdoctoral associate in the Center for Functional Nanomaterials of Brookhaven National Laboratory.  His research at Brookhaven involved nano-structured architectures for transistors and solar cells based on polymeric semiconductors.  He earned his PhD degree in physics from the University of Pennsylvania and was a recipient of the IGERT NSF traineeship in nanotechnology. He is a member of the American Physical Society and the Materials Research Society.
